The crown extends below the brim to form a cap. The brim is trimmed with matching color bands of artificial crin bands that show some felt through, per the photos. There is also a band of see-through crin to which blue rhinestones have been glued. A couple of the sequins are missing, but they are very small, and don\'t detract from the magnificence of the hat. The crown is also surrounded by a band of navy crin which is gathered in 4 places where some sequins & beads are placed. This is a wonderful piece of millinery fashion history! Crin, also known as crinoline or horsehair, is a net-like material, easy to mold and is often used in the decoration of clothing, hats and accessories. The crin in this hat is nom doubt artificially created to fit the era.
